REGARDING PORT FORWARDING
#1

Recently i was trying to create server in my laptop. But later i got to know that i have to forward the port number 7777 to make my server online. But when i tried to look for some tutorials i got only those tutorials in which port forward is done only in routers.

You see i don't have router, My ISP provider just provided me with wire with RJ45 connector. The wire is plugged in to my laptop's LAN port. When i have want internet i have to put username and password of pppoe connection to connect my laptop to internet.

So, how can i forward ports with these type of connection.

Have you tried to start the server up and check that the port is open?

If you use a port scanner you should see it.

One I use is http://grc.com/

If you don't we may need to check your windows firewall settings.

I notice you haven't got any anti-virus on your computer, you'll probably want to be looking at that soon if this connection is working the way I think it is. It's like a dialup modem connection, your laptop, is directly connected to the internet, and that, is quite vulnerable especially if that is Windows Vista.

How does it work? RJ45 going to an antenna outside? Without a router there probably isn't a firewall.

No port no 7777 is not open.

i can take screenshot of firewall setting if you told which you want to see or you can guide me to create new.

I do have antivirus. You can see the attached file.

This is windows 7 ultimate. If you are confused with looks then you need to know that i have change the performance settings to run my laptop fast. As a result all the graphical thing are changed to basic.

You're missing what I am saying.

The method of connection, is similar to a dialup modem, where you connect through it, and even though you have no "router", you are connected through the modem, directly to the network.

So instead of having the IP on your router, it's directly at your PC.

As I said, if you run the samp-server, and portcheck yourself, chances are it'll be open. You may want to turn off your wifi if that has any connection in use as well when you do this. Networks can use priority, and that could prioritize itself over the PPPoE (Even though it shouldn't, it still could). If that doesn't work though, ensure you have Windows Firewall setup to allow for the server.

I noticed you don't have AV on your machine, and due to this "wide open" situation where you are connected directly to the internet, you'd be wise to actually look at protecting your computer, because it is connected openly to the internet...

i already scanned port number 7777. But it is not open and i have antivirus in my computer. See the screenshot in 4th reply.

Then you'll want to make the AV exemption, and configure windows firewall to allow it. That's all you need to do.

Judging that I've never heard of that AV, I'd suggest you move to one of the more notable. Seriously, go Kapersky or something actually renowned rather than some random unheard of group.

I'd have no idea about the antivirus, but if it does anything with the internet traffic, you'll have to look through the settings, and find an "exceptions" area, in there if you add the executables of the sa-mp server (Being announce/samp-server) and if possible add the folder even to the exceptions.

I seen in the scan area there may be a exclude option, but chances are that's just for the scanning side of things.

You'll want to check the options in the Net Protector tab.

If all else fails, you may try to disable it temporarily (Some AVs allow it).
