gtx 1080 craze (rant #3)

head is paining, let's do this

so my friend got a gtx titan z sli, and then i argued with him about how you can get very minimal difference with gtx 980 ti sli. he says that gtx titan z can save his ass till next gen, and i was like mmk. then, suddenly nvidia showed gtx 1070 and 1080 with killer price and i was like ... time to get this card asap! like literally 2 of this goodie and you already have x2-3 power of a gtx titan. plus time to roast my friend

i wonder how amd will fight with this beast card

so yes my friend is very very stupid for being a stupid guy, but other than that let this thread be the official craze thread about nvidia's new gpu!!

!! i'm very excited

Titan Z? What? That card is previous gen, less powerful and more expensive than current gen Titan X. But yeah, the 1080 is going to be the new flagship seeing as it's twice as powerful as a Titan X at half the price. I might actually get one. Or a 1070, not sure yet. Either way, it's going to be a huge leap from my current 760.

They aren't faster than the Titan X. They only beat the Titan X in specific DirectX 12 VR scenarios which isn't hard to do since Nvidia cards up until the 10xx series have had poor VR performance and poor DirectX 12 performance.

If you honestly believe Nvidia would release a card "twice as fast or 30% faster" than their flagship Titan for less than $1,000 USD you truly are stupid.

I still want to see how AMD's Polaris delivers. I like to wait for both to release cards so I can see which one I should go for, especially this year since my R9 290X is aging. Same goes for AMD's new Zen CPUs that are suppose to come out this year, will determine if I stay with AMD or go Intel.
