MTA is easier to map with, you can download some mods that adds SA:MP objects (not everything) but it's overall easier to learn. It took me 2 days to fully control perfectly MTA and I have tried for a few times to use the SA:MP map editor however it's kinda hard to use for me at least..

Both. For usual mapping use MTA, and for copying groups of objects for later processing, use the Editor.

MTA's interface and workflow is just easier, however RemoveBuilding and the SAMP objects are a great advantage of Jernejl's Editor.
One thing which the Editor can't beat though are addons like Bauss' Toolbox or Multi Selection.

MTA is perfect for beginners.
Editor it's for advanced users, who are creating big projects since Editor has more objects than MTA.
For basic mapping, you can use MTA, because it's easy, You'll find the most objects that you need.

The previous comments sum up your specific question, but there are others, like Fusez's Map Editor or Pottus's Texture Studio (link in my signature).
Overall, it really depends on YOUR own taste. Try them all. I'd actually rather use Map Construction (what you are calling 'Editor', IT'S NOT CALLED EDITOR) than MTA, then Texture Studio for texturing and touch ups. I also typically just use Texture Studio for mapping period.
