I've seen the crummiest servers gain 30-40 players A DAY, and the most advanced servers not get more than 3 or 4 players a day. How do servers that have been ripped off the forum, or are simply stunt servers gain 30+ players a day?! And how would I go about growing my community's player base?

Don't let your server be empty. There are actually a fair amount of people that have the checkbox "not empty" checked at all times. Even if it's just you playing in your server, people will eventually drop in.

The majority probably have [REFUNDING] in the name which draws either new players or those who don't want to work for their stuff. The ones that don't normally get looked over if their player base is already low, my tip is when you have players, work to keep them. If that doesn't work, look at your server and think what would make me stay and play.

Advertising it is a good start. As is making the (ugly) text in your signature an active link to something relating to it. Rather than a seemingly random word. Getting people to try is the first step. Keeping them is another matter.

Totally true. I see unique RP servers running with 1-5 players while NG:RP edits have 20+ players.
Same with COD WaW servers. There are literally over 10 of them running currently and 7 will have over 10 players.
I think you should add [RUS] tag on your server name.
