A basejumping/skydiving server.

Notice: I'm not here to advertise a server, but instead let everyone know about something I've been reverberating over and over again for a few months now. With this thread, I do not wish to know If you'd be playing in this server or not (seeing that one says he will and then he doesn't, we can't rely on these replies), but instead listen to your suggestions and make something out of this.

Let's start from the base. What is BASE Jumping? BASE Jumping is an activity where participants jump from fixed objects and use a parachute to break their fall. "BASE" is an acronym that stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges), and Earth (cliffs).

A team of mappers will focuse on creating maps, whether on the sky or you'll be making simple jumps from the several buildings, antennas and possible bridges (?) in San Andreas, aswell as sky dive.

a.k.a. 'How it's gonna work'.

Well, I thought that a mission changing system would be OK for this. If a few maps were put together, it'd be possible to make a few missions. You'd have to go through the checkpoints, the first one to reach the last checkpoints wins and is presented with things that I'd rather not disclose now.

Or, instead of making a mission changing system, a few teleport commands could be created, each of these leading to a BJump spot.

Here's a video that you might enjoy watching, even If you're not a fan of this idea so far: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz8Z40xjHts[/ame]

I suggest doing something like this - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjgrmlUmFrc[/ame]
Jumping from the original San Andreas buildings would get boring after a few minutes really.

Yeah Jansish, that's what I wanted to mean with this paragraph: "Well, I thought that a mission changing system would be OK for this. If a few maps were put together, it'd be possible to make a few missions. You'd have to go through the checkpoints, the first one to reach the last checkpoints wins and is presented with things that I'd rather not disclose now."

I indeed agree that jumping of buildings can get quite boring.

New Dawn had that mode in its server already, They had 100+ maps for it- However, Got removed due to the lack of interest in that GM.

Also, ARRIBIA got that mode too.

Anyway, Good luck with it.

I believe a server based on skydiving/base jumping only wouldn't attract so many players, I indeed love those maps and I'm good at it; however, doing the same thing over and over again gets boring. Although in a combination with few other modes as well, it'd be great!

I think the problem with New Dawn's was the fact that when you died, you went to spectate mode. The maps were also kinda short.

If I was going to make this type of mode, I wouldn't add a spectating after death feature. Instead set a max map time (5-6 minutes?) and respawn the player at the start/last checkpoint if they fail. This way they get more than one chance, the rounds aren't shit and last only 20 seconds each (like what happened on New Dawn) and people will want to try and get past the part of the map they are stuck on - which will make them stay for longer.

Oh, and as Jansish said, jumping off default SA buildings would be fucking boring. I think mapped "courses" with obstacles would be better..

Thanks for your reply, Konstatinos. What kind of mods were you talking about in your last line? I'm intrigued.

I prefer multi-modes. I do some base-jumping/skydiving, after a while, I get bored and I switch to racing. After a while to DM. And the basic one - freeroam. Just let the players do more things in a server to keep the interested!

PS: Also new updates/maps (often) would make it awesome. I'd definitely join there for sure!

I MISS CRAZY ASS STUNT SERVER!

/excitemedsadness off.

There aren't any basejump/skydive servers left and it sucks.
I love playing on those servers, especially Crazy Ass Stunt because they had the whole cave concept which I loved!

I tried making a cave like basejump map, but found that it was kinda hard. I would totally give it another try if it had use.(Like, if there were any servers that would use it. Because those maps are time consuming and difficult)
