I'm about to start my own SAMP Hosing, and I need to benchmark my server to see how many players (slots) I can use. So I was wondering, I can't get 500 players, is it possible to benchmark CPU and RAM with NPCs ?

Not really sure if a npc would affect cpu that much, but i really never tried. Something you could do is maybe get a group of testers together like 5 and just gestimate your cpu/memory with them 5 players.
Or just start your server off with 20 to 50 slots and work up from there, its not like a server opening for the first time will get to 500 players instantly.

I connected 499 NPC, and CPU load was 96% (2x Dual Core @ 2.4 GHz), and RAM about 20% (8GB DDR3) . But I believe that standard player doesn't "eat" that much CPU as NPC...
