Why bother starting from scratch if what you edit works for the general mass? That's like trying to come up with your own recipe for chicken because everything else has been thought of. Every roleplay GM will have /me, /do, /o, /b and etc. Why start from nothing when you're going to have the same core stuff anyways?
That's what I think of it. I just couldn't stomach your opinion on all edits with no regard for the effort put on them (I don't classify servers that just changed names and starting money as proper "edits"). But I honestly can't bust anyone's balls since I have a zGaming edit (an actual front-end and back-end edit, like MySQL converted etc.) myself while also having a roleplay gamemode I made from scratch. Both of which seem to be similar on the front-end no matter how much things are different behind the scenes.

You do have a point here, but sometimes when people mean "own gamemode" its more likey "done by them self's" but pretty much it has the same features like other script but written in complete different layout, using different system's and so on
but what is the major point is the "Core Gameplay" the settings of the game, year, fantasy or not? location, what is the main purpose.
What people forget when they make roleplay server is uniqueness, I do not mean script wise but core gameplay wise and if you look at the roleplay servers you will see what I mean, 99% of them are set in the same place, era and so on, going to different server does not change much for the player beside new start and location's, most likely not, which is really, getting boring to even bother playing because its all the same.
If you do not get what I mean here let me say it in simple words, too many servers use the same settings of core gameplay, why not doing futuristic roleplay? set in some space age, medieval age and so on, this is what I mean by core gameplay, different settings, everything is possible if you use your brain into it.
One problem with using already made script's is simply, people edit out the credits and say they made it, which I pretty much won't understand why do that.
