Copyright...
#1

Hello,

I was wondering, the most people who release there scripts are saying things like,
Do not remove my credits or do never release this script without my permissions or any things like that.

But I was wondering, what if people ignore those things.
Can script owners do something about it?
Can you even put copyright to sa-mp pawn codes?

If yes, how this whole 'law' works...
For example when someone stole your script and released it or something, is there anything you can do about it, except flaming on this person or getting his sa-mp account banned...

Because I always put Copyrights under my work, but I was wondering what's the whole point of it, except it looks more professional...

So people know that you made the script. It's just disrespectful to remove copyrights, never mind any "laws".

Okay, so it seems this whole copyright line is pointless, well ok thanks for your information.

Mostly people see it just as a "backdoor" so you can complain when someone messes with your work. Else theyd just say that you didnt forbid whatever he messed around with.
However, juristically both way are irrelevant.
I dont use any "official" licenses for my samp works, but just some sentences about what to do and what not to do. Why? Most "kids" wont care neither about official licenses nor informal ones, and you cant do any legal actions for something like samp anyways. Serious guys will already respect your informal license terms. So for samp, official licenses, with all their terms to consider, are quite pointless.

For example GPL, as ****** already mentioned. GPL in short means, any project that uses the open-source GPL project code, also needs to be open source and GPL. I barely see this respected incase of the streamer plugin, and that would be tons of license violations, but noone cares. Why use GPL then?

I don't really care if anyone uses my code, changes it, or even claims it as their own.
When I released the NPC Recording generator, I HOPED somebody changed it to make it better.
The whole point of releasing code is to make the world better, not your reputation.

What makes it even worse is the fact that it's on the web, because then it requires an international "copyright". Anyway like someone said before, the law will most probably not protect your script. I think you'll have to take the risk if you want to release it.
