I have ATI HD 6670 1GB GDDR3 and is a good graphic card, inexpensive, consumes little energy (max 75W) and works fine with a large list of actual games (Battlefield 3, COD MW3, Skyrim, Sniper Elite V2, etc).

Nvidia and ATI are both your best picks I guess. Try ebay or amazon too. They might have some cheaper stuff.

There is like no game it can't handle at high settings yet.
