LOL! My antivirus said Samp0.3e is a virus!

Title says it all. I downloaded the client installer for 0.3e and my antivirus quarantined it for being a threat.

Seems like there are some screwed things in 0.3e, since it didn't detect any other "viruses" on earlier versions.

I know for a fact it isn't a virus. Your anti-virus programme is just thinking it is one. It happened to me once.

What is your anti-virus that detects it as a virus?

I think some part of the code matched with some known technique, but you don't really have to worry about it. I'm sure Kye is a very worried guy when the topic is security and etc.

0.3d RC versions where also detected as a virus (by my avast). kye must do something for the final releases of sa-mp to make them not detected, I wouldn't worry about it

The VT links provided show the file is clean. Anything else is a false positive or strange anti-virus settings. The OP did not say what his AV scanner was.

I don't see how this is SA-MP's fault. I heard Avast will flag the file simply because it had not seen the program before. This is normal considering SA-MP is being updated frequently (especially during the RC).

The problem should be reported to the AV vendor in most cases. If Virus Total says there is a problem, I'd look in to it.

I'm using both Avast Anti-virus and the latest SA-MP 0.3e-RC5 (both server and client) and doesn't give me problems regarding protection.

Anti-viruses updates their virus database frequently, so make sure that the one you're using is updated. Aside from that, everyone who posted here comments that it's negative from having any virus. One more thing, did you download it directly from the forums or did someone just give you a re-linked one?

Basically, your AV is talking shit. If virustotal said it's a virus Kalcor said he would then look into is as that probably the best as it checks all the AV databases.

Look how many people use SA-MP, over 40 thousand. If you notice it's only 1 in a few thousand that get this problem.
