Well, I've got Angel Pine Roleplay script for a long time on my computers files (no idea where I got it from), but as it's an edited version of PEN : LS, does the copyright still hold? As I was thinking, that maybe I could edit it, because it's an edit, so copyright doesn't hold to it. Is this true? That copyrights don't hold to edited files?

You have to ask them first whether they allow you to make an edit and re-release it or not. BTW, search the forum member list, I think Fear, FreshKilla and Shadow are there.

But the original server using this script is already closed. Does this affect it in any way?

Maybe they have sold it to someone else or intend to be releasing or restarting their work, until you don't confirm from they it is always risky to edit and re-release it.

Allright, I'll ask the owners.

Even if you release it after getting their permissions you will have to give some credits to them as well. And also specify that you just edited it and it's not one of your productions.

Everything you make is automatically copyrighted (as long as you can provide proof for it). However putting Copyright under this just clarify's it more. I am not sure about the legal aspects, but you're not allowed to make any kind of profit with someone elses work without his or hers permission. In this case you have to ask the owner for permission to use his gamemode, and potentially make a profit through donations.
And to the above, credits are not always nessercary, it depends onder what license ones product is released or if the original copyright holder gave you permission.
