A friend and I are curious as to how we would make a server.

We are both pretty new to stuff like this and some learning would definitely be involved. We would mainly just use the server for us and our friends to DM/stunt/mess around on. If random people started joining, they would be welcome, and then some improvements and other things may be in store, but other than that, we have no real interest in making it really souped up or anything.

So basically what I am asking is, where do I start?

Go purchase a gameserver, if you are not able to host it yourself. server-ffs.com is a good place to start. After that you can download a gamemode from here. If you are lucky the gamemode will contain all the files you need.
