Network Help!
#1

Hello, I am hosting a server but my dad is a bit stressed because it says that many different ipґs are trying to connect and access our network. Is this usual when hosting a server? Can it go wrong so people can get inside? Also the ipґs tryes to connect when My computer is off. Does the signal come to our network router even though my computer is shut off and then it doesnt get a connetion or is it something bad?

Please answer fast,

Tell your Dad not to worry. I am a network expert, now, lets check a couple of things.

1. Do you have a firewall? It so, is it the latest version?

2. Do you have a router? Ex. Cable Modem/DSL Modem/Dial-Up Modem -> Router/Wireless Router...

2a. If so, what kind?

3. Does your computer contain VERY personal information? If so, you should lock it with another piece of software, or something similar...

Get back with those answers, and I may be able to help more.
