Double Monitor Setup
#1

Hey all,

I've been looking at building my own rig eventually, and the thought occurred to me about having a double monitor setup. What I am looking for is so that I can have something like GTA running on one screen, and maybe MSN open on the other? I multitask quite a bit, between MS Word, MSN, internet, games etc .. Is this possible to have something like this?

I don't mean something like the screen is split, half is on one screen, half on the other.

Would anyone be able to recommend something? More information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. I've also heard that it's necessary to have a graphics card which is compatible for the use of a double monitor setup. Is that true? And how exactly do I connect the two monitors to work with each other? Also, what brand and model are you monitor's? Are they the same? Can I use one's which are different in manufacturer or actual model?

I have a GF 8800GT videocard which has 2 outlets at the rear for 2 monitors. (Which are both taken) I have 2 monitors set up which are both different. One 20" LG and one AOC 19 inch crt monitor. So, yes, you can have multiple different monitors

You need to use a dual screen compatible videocard (ie. Radeon HD 4870x2)
They have 2 ports, nowadays the new videocards have DVI ports rather to the old ones.
The disadvantage i find with playing samp and trying to use msn together is that you cant. It physically locks you onto one screen so having a 2nd is practically useless, unless you use 3rd party software
