How many players could I host?
#1

Hi,

Yes, I am trying to run my own server on my localhost until I earn enough to get something from ServerFFS, but anyways, how many players would this hold?

Internet:

Computer Specs:

My ping kicker will kick players with a max of 850 ping (Tell me if I should raise or lower this...)
No NPCs
No Timers

So yeah, im running a TDM, with ladmin, my server hasn't gone public yet, just wondering though, I want to make it public, so how many players should this hold ?

Um..until you have like a REALLY good script with a bunch of stuff for other players to use and what not (e.g. vehicles..spawn points..classes, pickups, and what not) I suggest you not worry about that. Just stick with what the server.cfg gives you. Default amount of players 0.3a holds is 50. So stick with that for now..but I say you should PURCHASE your rent your own server if you plan on hosting over a 100-200 player server.

I know, it's crappy.

But anyways, would would be the most players without starting to get a big lag? (I don't mind having a tiny bit, but not a lot)

@DualDier ....Wtf are you talking about?

The specs of the computer itself are good, You could host a lot of people with 3gb Ram, Its just the upload speed that lets you down.

I had about the same upload as you when I home hosted. I could have 0-15 players without extreme lag. (But sometimes it didn't lag for some reason) But at 20 players I was having a 5 second chat delay.
