Hi guys, today I bought a 2GB Ram for my system. I've 2 slots on my mobo but that doesn't means that it can only support 2GB. I've checked on the webs. It supports a maximum of 4GB. So, I had 1GB ram on each slot, but when I place the newly bought 2GB ram on one slot, it doesn't works. What could be the problem? Do I have to fit 2GB on each slot? Can't it work with 2GB one slot and 1GB second slot? I took out 1GB ram and only placed the 2GB, it started to work. I know my mobo is latest and it can support. But why it doesn't works?

When you placed the 2GBs did you leave the other one empty or did you put a spare 1 GB in it? (Empty means that you might have put it in the wrong one : >)

Did you bought the right one?;
- Non-ECC or ECC
- Right speed
- Right slot (DDR-1, DDR-2, DDR-3, DDR-3) etc.
- Tryed to switch, and only startup with one DIMM?

NVM, I called the retailer and he said that both rams have different bus speeds. They have to be the same.

Ya, you also need to know if your computer can run DDR2 or DDR3.

DDR3 modules won't fit into DDR2 slots.
