SAMP simply doesn't run on Windows 10
#1

I have been using Windows 10 for at least two months now, but SAMP simply will not run. Single player runs fine.

I have tried:
  • Deleting my existing SAMP installation (I have two GTA:SA installations, one for SP and one for MP), copying my vanilla installation and reinstalling SAMP
  • Setting both SAMP and GTA:SA to run as an administrator, in Windows 7 compatability mode.
  • Have used NO asi plugins or mods whatsoever.
  • Deleted my GTA_SET file multiple times.
And yet, SAMP will open, the loading bar will almost fill up until it closes out and gives this:

change name of the root folder of your GTA (the one for sa-mp) to something like "GTA San Andreas 2" - just something different than "GTA San Andreas". if it does not work, delete your two copies of gta, then install a new one. also, before all of this, try deleting the whole user files folder.

Run as administrator (both GTA San Andreas and SA-MP) and enabled compatibility mode for Windows 98/Me (For GTA San Andreas *gtasa.exe* only). Problem solved.

That sucks though, because using this compatability setting means the game won't create the GTA San Andreas User Files directory in Documents, which means it won't be able to save or scan / play tracks for the User Track Player.

And it doesn't look like SAMP will work with any other setting, so you cannot play SAMP right now with User Tracks, which sucks ass.

I have win 10, and it works like a charm.

Shockmouth I personally haven't tried this on windows 10 but it's something I've had to do to get it to work on windows 7. And I think a couple of friends on Windows 10 have done this as well, (nothing else we tried worked)

Right click gta_sa.exe uncheck compatibility mode totally, then check disable visual themes, disable desktop composition and finally make sure Run as administrator is checked.

Usually it's the Desktop Composition and Visual Themes later versions of windows run that break older games.

It should look like this:

If that works for you then it should create and or use the GTA User files so you can have the user tracks back.
