Networking issue
#1

I am at a loss right now. This is what happens,

My internet connects for about 2 minutes and all is fine. Then I see this on the "wifi" bar,

Some-times, it will connect after about 15 seconds going from limited to full wifi access. Some-times, it's about 40 minutes to even 2 hours befoe it works again(how-ever usually is closer to 45 mins).

I know there is more than one network in range that I can see so I know it's not my router to blame. I have an HP notebook PC running windows seven. Thanks.

EDIT: Note I have not done anything which might awffect this(as far as I know). Even just to post this, I've had to wai till it connected again.

Did you try to uninstall Internet Explorer?

Did you damage or accidentally pressed the WiFi button on the Laptop? It's used to enable/disable WiFi. Or it could be some sort of driver issues, reinstalling them might fix.

That's not the problem and of course you can't uninstall it and even if you manage to, if you stay out of browsers, you won't be able to download one which will require alternative ways of getting one at all.

I don't know what I.E has to do with anything, though... - I mean it's a browser, not anything else. It's been installed this whole time, and has worked fine. And no I am not pressing the wi-fi button. It does it on it's own. I am wondering what's happening, as my router is perfectly fine, and usually gets full bars.

Try this, this might do the trick.

I don't have the balanced option. I will try and see if "HP Recommended" works, as thats the only other option I have. It'd be kind-of weird if it was the power options, though.

It must be happening because of proxy, uninstall all proxy software's, Netcut or whatever, restart your system, modem and insert the driver disc and install the necessary driver's ( if you lost any ).

Do you have Windows 2000? Because what you're saying is not possible and is terribly wrong.

Plus I've had a similar problem with my HP laptop; I did go to Device Manager > Network Adapters > Wi-Fi adapter >right click and go on properties then to Power Management and deselect the "Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power".
