I am developing an application for SA-MP communities. So the advantage of this application is that the controller can be a client, or, a server automatically. He can chat with number of clients he wants. This can be dont by setting MAX_CLIENTS to 10, or something else. The another advantage of this application is that if a owner doesn't have a IRC server or a chat box, he can use this application. So I want your suggestions for this application. Do you support this? Or no? This wont be a open source... (You can poll the "I support it with the open source")
Developers:
* ACI
Edit: Can admins edit the topic? because I dont know how to make a poll.
Edit:
You can post "Yes, I do support this"
You can post "Yes, I do support this. But I too demand the source"
You can post "No" - Posting this is useless here.

Setting up an IRC channel is very easy, it has a LOT of advanced features that your application being scratch scripted would require months to catch up to, and it is trustable.
The question you would need to ask yourself is - why would any player use MY application (from an un-trusted source) with possibly some bugs (which are bound to happen at the release) and less features (which you would need time to develop) OVER IRC channels which are already there?

Ah wait. You are trying to stop me from releasing this? There are MANY untrusted things in this world but people yet download them. An example is the 'other tools/applications' section where you post apps. When people download, they gain the trust. I dont know why everyone does speak the same thing when someone starts a project. Its just for proving yourself correct. But, you're not. And I am using powerful libraries. They consume less than 2 MB if a server has less than 10 players (I am not sure). So, what will it be for connected peers if they just chat? And when the heck did I say that it will have bugs? Plus, if it has less features, WE can improve it nicely.

I wouldn't use this because my server has IRC channels that are perfectly sufficient. I think you need to think more about why people should use your application, and post a more convincing argument, as you haven't really said why this would be good and why people should use it, you only told us what it does. Good luck with your project!

Stop being aggressive and start taking opinions in a constructive way.
Anyways -
1) No where in the main topic have you told us about the 'powerful' libraries you are going to use.
2) Who said it will have bugs? You simply cannot have code that runs without bugs - a bug is BOUND to happen sometime. Even ******** has bugs. So accept, you are going to have to deal with bugs, at some point of time. Things like IRC have been up for years and have solved tons of bugs thanks to their users.
3) I am not STOPPING you. I said - just ask yourself the question and then decide whether you should develop it or not. I don't preach.
4) IRC is more trustable - you simply cannot argue with that point. More users means more trust.
5) For the features part - did you understand what I said?
"your application being scratch scripted would require months to catch up to IRC features"
Best of luck, have a good one developing it!
