New pc... Seriously think about it, it is recording your entire screen frame by frame, imagine how many images is it creating to form a video... It takes power to do those, while you are already playing game which is occupying half of the power recorder needs. I don't think there is something else out there...

I used to use ZD-Soft game recorder, but now i cannot find the version it worked with me. I made a video of about 70 mb playing SA-MP in a 1400x900 and videos that were 4 minutes long or more.

Pretty much sums up. That's why I don't do recordings.

You could try using a camera. Cameras are cute and innocent, they don't make your PC lag.

Some GPUs come with software that records the game from your GPU in the background, then you can later access it.

2000? No way.
You could easily build a capable & powerful enough computer out of a budget of between 500 - 800 (800 giving you the best) - Also make sure to get a second hard drive; since whilst your game is recording the software is storing each and every frame in order so having the game play and record from the same hard drive will only cause you to /LAG/

I'm afraid there aren't many alternatives. I feel as though Fraps is the most optimized & reliable when it comes to recording.

He's talking about not buying a new pc at all, spending 500-800 more $ for a new pc just to record a game its pointless. I have a old pc, 1 gb ram, 512 graphic card, proccessor cori uno, which is damn old. I have windows 7 and i record with Fraps it laggs a bit, but when i had Windows XP, game while recording had no lagg at all. So, try formating ur pc to XP and record it there, without spending any money, thats the only way.
