GTA Fails to launch first time
#1

It's been happening for a month or so now, and I haven't found the cause of the problem. I find a server i want to connect to, when i bring up Server Properties box, then click Connect. It closes as normal, so I wait for GTA to load. Nothing happens...

I check task manager and i see gta_sa.exe 432K or sometimes 436K I click to end task. It allows me to end task without any error message, but gta_sa.exe 432K doesn't get removed from task manager.

I tried running MTA 1.0.5 and it said GTA is already running. I tried with samp and it worked. It may not seem like a huge deal just having to click connect twice. It's causing serious lag though, my game freezes, ping goes upto 700 when normally its around 60. Once in a while it opens first time and my game is perfectly smooth, and ping is stable. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled. Nothing seems to fix it.

Has anyone here had this problem before and been able to fix it?

Yeah, a lot of times. Even deleting any gta related keys in regedit

I've just tried installing it on a new hard drive, it worked as normal until i installed my internet security. G-Data Total Care. The weird thing is, it was fine before, and not it's now. Something else strange is others I know who use G-Data Total Care don't have any problems. Even though we both have the same version.

Hmm... Can you play regular GTA? Without SA-MP?

Yep happens to me all the time, i open the sa-mp window, select a server i want to play click connect then i get to loading screen and nothing happens, sa-mp wont load.

So the only option im left with is to reboot my computer, cuz my pc is froze.
I have had this problem ever since the release of 0.3c, never on 0.3b so im guessing its a 0.3c error.

Ive tried the whole uninstall-reinstall GTA sa, but its still the same.

EDIT: btw this happens to me on a daily basis and it drives me crazyy!

I don't think that this is this same problem as the OP is having. But you should try downloading the 0.3c R3 client.

Try downgrading to R1 perhaps

I can play regular gta, and I can still play samp. I just have to attempt to connect twice. Task manager then shows two gta_sa.exe one currently running with samp and one that is from the first attempt to connect, and often shows 432k mem usage.

It's only after I update G-Data Total Care virus definitions.

I think I can fix this for you, First, find your pc's makers name, find the model, search that on ******, look for your graphics drivers, then once installed, restart your pc, I had the same problem with my XCcube - EZ195-T.

Also, add the most recent patch before re-installation.

It was working perfectly fine untill I installed G-Data Total Care. It was working fine before i performed a virus database update with G-Data.

I've setup the firewall to allow samp.exe and gta_sa.exe at all costs. Here is what i found in one of the log files after i tried to connect to a server.

At the moment i have gta_sa.exe running using 436K mem usage. It seems that it's just waiting for incomming connections. If I uninstall G-Data now, while gta_sa.exe is sitting in task manager, it would suddenly begin to load as soon as g-data is uninstalled.

I don't get it, a friend of mine uses the same as me but he has no problems running gta with samp or mta.

Re-install SAMP, from CD or download. Get the crack, install the crack, Add the patch, then re-start your PC.
If that does not work, then I suggest taking it to SAMP developers.
