I would like to know if Paypal is safe to keep money in there for a long time and it won't get lost / reduced. Like a bank, but online.. Because I've heard from a friend his money in paypal dissapeared but I want to keep it there for a long time untill I really need it

It is a bank, online. Your money stays there until you really need it just don't put too much (is what I recommend)

It's not a bank, and that's what makes PayPal what it is. PayPal is basically the same as those poker sites, where you trade in fake currency, but you need real currency to buy fake currency. It just so happens that PayPal also lets you sell those chips, for real currency.

PayPal are within their rights to seize your money, and not let you have it, for as long as they see fit.
