Yeah, it's amazing how much crap can accumulate inside the computer. I would think if it's on top of the processor, it would burn up :P

You should have seen my laptop after I opened it up for the first time, after three years of 12-hour-a-day use. It was a hell of a site. It got so bad, that it couldn't run more than an hour without instantly shutting down. After a quick dusting, it was as good a normal.

Since I saw this, it reminds me of my family PC downstairs. If my parents would let me open that, or I can without them knowing, I would. That PC is 8 years old and hasn't been cleaned once

Wow, 8 years without being cleaned? Does it even work for more than 2 hours?!

It actually stays on for 20 days at a time, I'm the only one who has ANY computer-sense in the family, so shut it down when I can. Last time I turned it off, in fact, it had been on for 42 days! I'm very impressed that it even turns on anymore.

EDIT: It's so bad, dust is forming around the OUTSIDE of the tower. I will get a picture when I go downstairs later to get a drink and show you.

@Grim_, Lie to your family that the computer has a virus and can't be used and after 1 month check the difference in the Electricity Bill. ( I don't think it would use much Electricity since its 8 years old? )

We already got a virus before thanks to my brother looking up porn, so I don't think that would do any good. The reason my parents don't let me near the computer (mainly my mom) is she thinks that she'll loose all of her eBay account information and personal pictures if I do ANYTHING. The other day, I was replacing an ink cartridge and she thought I was going to delete her photos! And before you even attempt to explain anything to her, she completely freaks out.

She has this new thing going around, where she thinks she knows everything, because she works with eBay. A literal conversation between us below:
Код:
Her: Blake, the 'delete button' on eBay isn't working again
Me: It's most likely the internet again, mom
Her: No, no. It's there site, because it's happening with other things to from there
Me: Well I'm on the neighbors internet (wifi) and it's working fine. Is it happening other websites too?
Her: Yeah, but what does that have to do with anything?
You can, hopefully, feel where I'm coming from.

Anyway, I can't seem to get a clear picture right now with the lights being dim (thanks to 4AM in the morning) so I'll have to wait until I get home after school and my parents are out of the house. I'll crack her open and take a quick picture.

While typing the conversation about my mom, I realized how far off-topic we have got! Lets move on, eh?

1 year? What, you live in the desert? Lol

It takes roughly 3 years for such dust to build up in my house.
(Had a computer not cleaned for 2 years, it was slow even after cleaning so noone cared. )
