0.3.7 streaming issues, when used memory reaches 1gb
#1

Hello. I've been playing SAMP for a long time for now and since 0.3.7 I've been encountering a problem with rendering. In previous versions, I was running a heavily modded game (HD textures, car mods, skin mods, everything basically) and everything was running fine. After the 0.3.7 update, my map stops loading after driving around the map for a while. This happens whenever my used streaming memory gets to around 1gb.
The problem can not be my computer, because I think it's more than capable to run this game with mods (8gb ram, 2xGTX970 SLI, i5) and three years ago, I also used texture mods, skins and a few car mods with no errors on my laptop (Intel HD Graphics, Pentium (I think), 2gb RAM).

I removed all of my mods and reinstalled my game. Everything ran fine until I installed some texture mods. It wasn't such a big problem back then, because the stock SA doesn't look so bad with enb. Now however, I want to install snow textures and some car mods, but I can't because of this problem. Im using a stream mem fix (2gb), because the built in one doesn't work for me. Really need help with this.

There is no snow in California or Nevada, just play without it.

Snow's not the biggest problem. I just wanna install some mods and not be forced to relog every 15 minutes.

I also have this problem. Started since SA-MP 0.3.7. I can't even have retextures on anymore without having to restart my game every 10 minutes. And my computer isn't powerful enough to run an ENB to make the stock more beautiful.
Is this a common problem with 0.3.7 or can it be fixed somehow?

I know a few other people, who are also having this problem.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it fixed?

ENB has always done this. SA-MP, never, and still doesn't. Changing textures in the IMG file would also not do this unless you are using absurd sizes, like 4048x4048 and above.

I tried it today on my other PC. I installed a clean GTA SA and SAMP. Then installed the snow textures and nothing else. And I still got that problem. So ENB is not the cause in my case. I also tried installing 0.3z and everything was fine there.

Load all your mods through modloader

Tried that already, didn't help.

When the problem is occurring hold down F5 and take a screenshot so we can see your streaming memory usage stats.

Also, make sure you are not using a "streaming memory fix" as SA-MP 0.3.7 has it built in now... using another "fix" will often cause undesirable problems.

Just so you know SA-MP 0.3.7 assigns streaming memory based on your total system RAM:
* 4 GB or more RAM = 1 GB streaming memory
* 2 GB to 3.99 GB RAM = 512 MB streaming memory
* 1 GB to 1.99 GB RAM = 256 MB streaming memory
* Anything less = 128 MB streaming memory
(thanks to Kalcor for the information)

Finally, before anyone asks why SA-MP does not assign more streaming memory as modern PCs sometimes have much more than 4 GB memory, the answer is simple: the GTASA process is 32 bits so it can only reference up to 2 GB of memory. If we assign too much memory for streaming then there is nothing left for the actual game and SA-MP to use.

So I removed the streammemfix and now things are a little better (textures not loading wont make my game crash anymore). But textures are still not loading or if they are, it happens really slowly (I left the game running with no textures loaded and went away for a few minutes and when I came back everything looked good).

Here's the memory stats (whenever it reaches around 1gb textures stop loading) - one other thing I noticed, is that I cant take screenshots with F8 when textures are not loaded

I found a way to fix it.
I now think, that this may have been caused by Windows 10, because I was also sometimes getting the "referenced memory could not be 'read'" error when starting SAMP.

Anyway, the way I fixed it: I downloaded a program called "largeaddress", which modifies gta_sa.exe to be able to use 4 gigs of ram on 64 bit and 3 gigs of ram on 32 bit machines. I don't know how, but it fixed both problems (textures not loading and the "referenced memory could not be 'read'").
