As HeLiOn said, I find PM-ing dugi to be the best option to take into consideration for your request. He will definitely change your name if you have a good reason. Don't just say "hey...can you change my name to....?". Explain him what's the situation and give him arguments, so he can't simply ignore your request.
I did the same when I changed my name at the beginning of 2015.

As a side note, I take pride to have used this name for at least 8 years, if not 9.
The only thing that bugs me is the fact that it's not created by me. Yet these days, it's hard to come up with a nickname that is truly unique. Hard but not impossible. And when that happens, I will change mine, and if I can, maybe I will step further into trademarking.

As a gamer, look for something that sounds good and somehow describes you. If you come up with something, chances are you'll stick with it for a long time.
