Cannot swim faster - Frame Limiter Off
#1

I'm running version 0.3z,

I got a new computer and had 50 fps or 61 sometimes when the frame limiter was on. I installed a file, it was called FPS_LMIT.cs, which would remove the limit.

This allowed me to achieve frames over three hundred, sometimes I had 999 frames, it was unbelievable. But, this came with a problem.

I cannot swim faster. Like, not even SLOWER. I'm just stuck in water. I move like one centimeter per five seconds, it's incredibly slow. It's slower than the normal swimming motion. I barely even move in water.

Is there a fix for this? Perhaps a new disabler? Can I do anything about it? I have maximum settings in the game, turned them down and still no fix.

Only way to fix this was to turn the frame limiter on, which brought me back to a crappy rate. I'd appreciate some help.

This is a problem with San Andreas, but why do you need >60 FPS? "Over three hundred" or "999" FPS is not helping you in any way, it's not more visually appealing, and yes, it will break games.

San Andreas seems to have a problem that the higher your FPS, the slower you swim. If you use /fpslimit 20, for example, you will swim much faster than others at higher FPS.

Any framerate higher than your monitor's refresh rate (the thing in Hz) can't be displayed properly anyway. If you're using a LCD flatscreen you'll propably have the optimum at 60fps. (Also some say the human eye can't see more than 25fps - idk about that.)

On SA:MP you cannot have more than 100 FPS, however there are sometimes when it goes abit above then sets back to 100 FPS again.

As what ev0lution said, "San Andreas seems to have a problem that the higher your FPS, the slower you swim.". He's correct.

Seems retarded to me to try and boost your framerate higher than what your monitor can even refresh.

It's because SA engine does some things based on current frames count (it's like that since III and it was the worst in Vice City) and it's creating a range of problems from inability to do the Andromada mission (when on low FPS, plane just takes off too fast), inability to takeoff with Skimmer and bugged swimming - it's not wise to remove frame limiting completely

The more FPS you have the better the game reacts to your mouse movements and key hits. 60 vs 120 FPS is very noticable.
Fair enough then.

And it's true all I play is SAMP and old school Doom lol.

You can play SAMP at 120FPS, I even hit 144. You'll need crashes.asi developed by whitetiger
