Weird rendering of 3DText at long distances
#1

I've been working on some stuff and I have some 3DText labels that I want to be visible across the whole map - no, really.

It seems like that's not possible, and the view distance is restricted to within a few hundred units. But when you get to this limit, something weird happens: you can see the text label in the corner/sides of your screen, but not the middle. The further you go away from the label, the more you're restricted to seeing it in the corner of your screen.

I have taken some screenshots to demonstrate:

Here is my 3dtext, at 0.0 0.0 10.0 - clearly visible: http://i.imgur.com/t1IAwDy.jpg
Here it is a certain distance away - no longer visible in the middle of the screen: http://i.imgur.com/CcxAzQA.jpg
... but wait, it's visible in the exact same position if I move my camera! http://i.imgur.com/UuAKZko.jpg
And here's another shot, even further away (not visible, should be somewhere in the centre of the screen): http://i.imgur.com/aQiK2v6.jpg
... and again, exact same position but now only appears at the very edge of my screen: http://i.imgur.com/0lbOXjw.jpg

This isn't a huge problem but it is a weird bug in the rendering of 3d text labels. Also: make the view distance unlimited!
