Random update on creating a real SmartBytes IT shop

(let me know if you can't see them)

I knew there would be a lot of paperwork involved between getting insurance, tax ID form the state, federal regulation forms etc...but my GOD am I tired of signing my name on documents I can barely understand haha.

So far overhead is VERY low. Like under $1500/mo for rent, internet, insurance, etc. I'm trying to keep it low so that I'm not dumping ALL of my revenue into paying bills. Would like to have a little left to expand and build up savings.

Haven't done much advertising at all, and I don't have much up in the way of signage...but people are still finding me, which is pretty cool. I expect once I do start advertising, I'll have a lot more business coming in. Right now I have a few corporate contracts that cover the cost of overhead, so bringing in more foot-traffic will certainly help with profit and savings. I thought it would be a good idea to get just a couple of businesses as customers so that I can bring in money without running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Seems to be working out so far.

TRYING to have a grand opening party on Aug 1 (since its a Friday and all). If I do, I'll be streaming it from one of the security cameras for anyone online that wants to join in.

This I am excited for! Although setting up a business is difficult, setting up the actual home of it is probably one of the more difficult things (although I wouldn't personally know, I can only imagine the stress!)

But the shop is looking awesome man, I wish you all the luck in your future endeavours!

The datacenter purchases are in the pipeline, just have to wait for the ramsom money to be paid.

Oh crap I forgot to feed them again brb

And thank you everyone for the kind sentiments SA-MP is part of the gateway for doing this. Playing became scripting became owning (server). That turned into hosting, which relit a latent desire to do my own thing haha. Thats why I want to share with this community.

This looks awesome, shows how things can develop. How long have you been planning the whole IT shop, was it a random thought one day or did you always want SmartBytes to develop into something like this?

I'm guessing by that you mean co-location as running a rack in your shop would probably use up a lot of your energy and bandwidth

Thanks for sharing.

These little updates you share with us are truly inspirational. It just goes to show that with hard work and dedication, you can make all of your dreams a reality. I wish you the best of luck with SmartBytes, and don't drink too much champagne during the grand opening party! Gotta stay sharp in the hosting industry.
