Every time I try to join a server, I am literally completely alone in the game, and I never get prompted to choose a skin. I am not cheating or modding in any way, and my install is fresh, legal (DVD), and downgraded to v1.00. What in the world am I doing wrong?

Just check that you have the right SA-MP Version, the one the server(s) have.

Do the single player things come up? Or does it come up "San Andreas multiplayer" when you click play?

I've got the same version as all the servers I've tried (and I've tried a lot lol). The loading screen is the SA:MP screen, but I spawn as CJ on a hill in Vinewood behind a house, and there are no other people, cars or anything at all. It's just me running around alone. The pause menu is from the SPG.

I didn't launch the debug .exe at all. Is there another way that might happen? The directory that SAMP is pointing to in my settings is correct.

Remove GTA San Andreas, and uninstall SA-MP also.

Then, re-install them.

Do this all, and if still not working, contact the SA-MP Team.

I have no idea why this worked, but I changed my chosen display name, and the first server I joined worked flawlessly. No idea why. Solved? Guess so.
