if your wont need that many slots then no need to run a server with that many.
and NO i will not rep you just so you can post an ad,
go help some people by, scripting help, post a tutorial,
release some code ect. ect.
to get rep you must earn it.

Looking at a player with 5 players id rather join a server that is half full with 10 slots, than one that is just half of a perfect full. Such a giant "overslotting" is kiddy in my eyes and cleary a sign of bad planning, doesnt make servers look good.
Also as already said, compared to a realistic amount of slots like 30, a 1000 slot server takes up to 30 times more resources (MAX_PLAYERS multiplies arrays and loops), thats just abusing.

Well the only disadvantage of that would be that if you ever do accomplish having 1000 users online, I doubt your server will be able to handle it unless you have a really good host.
Having 1000 users slots available is unnecessary but if you have the hosting capabilities for it, then I say go ahead!

Having max. 1000 players would mean shitload of work to make the script optimized for that high amount of players. It's not just about changing the MAX_PLAYERS define.

Set your player amount to the amount of players you think are going to join your server. A server with 6/15 slots filled I would join faster than a server with 30/500.

I think it does have some sort of Disadvantage, Because Some people who would come in your server would be like "Hell nah, This server aint going anywhere" Best idea is to Lower your slots to about 45-50 or Just a little over your player base.

I'm pretty certain that while using 1000 player slots, your sever will more resources regardless if one player is on or one hundred. Anyways, players will notice and think you have no clue what you are doing. (IMO)

Yes, there may be more lag depending on what host, and it will be more expensive. Don't get it if you don't need it.
