Since people hate the idea of pay per hour aka paying for total usage... How about paying for the total ammount of hours you will be using the server? Every day you wan't it open for you and others you pay. There would be discounts for plans like 3 weeks at time.

Hopefully I won't get FLOOD hated for this one. But think of it, $10 / 1 week / 25+ slots, seems worth it for somthing so simple, or if you have a better pricing plan tell me! Don't just hate. And to everyone going, "HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHEN THE SERVER IS SUPPOST TO EXPIRE!!!!!!! TELL ME!!!" It would be a php script tracking the total time online with a filterscript calling home every hour. This could also be used on the idea of pay per usage with a different plan.

So 24 hours of usage with 30 slots would cost $1 or so.

Tell me a pricing scheme you like. This idea I might implement and release the scripts so we have diversity in our hosting. Not about 100 big companys and small ones dying from lack of people buying. But yea, just give me a idea for pricing.

But for all you up tight people here, a normal plan would be involved that would undercut others. $0.20 /slot/month or $20/100/1

But out of all seriousness we need more hosts, everyone has something unique to offer in their hosting plans but not everyone sets up hosting companys.

$20 for 100 slots a month. Here is 2 other host's pricing for that same time frame

$32.48

I think that's good pricing.

Cut them to what, did you bother to read my whole post? Do you understand you still have to pay for the VPS you are using to host these game servers? You realize we wan't to earn money not loose money.

I am still not so sure about this idea either, monthly payments always seem like a good idea for major hosts.

But this idea is slight better than the previous.

You should not be hosting game servers off a VPS.

Depends on which virtualisation platform you're using, and the node's performance.
Look up vServer, it's essentially glorified chroot, so there's zero performance overhead.

I'm not sure how you could argue reselling off any commercial VPS services would provide any level of performance nor it would be a good idea. You're essentially selling shared hosting off already shared hosting.
