PC Problem
#1

I'm asking here since I don't have a referring cause to search on ******.

Well, I have a laptop, this is all I have at the moment. Whenever I play, the game lags for about 3 seconds then it goes smooth again, lags 3 seconds again, smooth again and so on! I believe something in the background causes this, why when it goes smooth it simply goes smooth without any lag, and when it lags again like hell(Playing Assassin's Creed and makes me loose on fights with the soldiers, in the game it happens even if I stay still...

I play my games in Windows Classic mode on everything set to performance.
I once tried setting the process priority to High, didn't help(Yes I know it may cause damage)

Here some specifications.

Please come up with solutions not indications like "get a better laptop"...

EDIT: I miss typed the thread title.

Your currently running processes can also be doing this (those running on background).

Why don't you use Game booster if you already didn't?

I close absolutely EVERYTHING! Torrent, Yahoo Messenger, MSN, EVERYTHING!

Also those are my processes.

Don't mind the those 2 as obviously I'm running right now.

Malware can cause this problem too. Scan your PC for malware's and if you can't find malware but it will still lag, then make a format of it.

I don't have an Antivirus, gotta get one.
(Don't ask WHY! I simply don't trust antiviruses anymore..., Yet, now I must rely on one...)

Well Zh3r0, I am 95% sure the reason why it lags is because of a malware. 2 weeks ago someone had this problem too, tried everything and he haven't fixed it, only after formatting the PC he said it was the malware's work and everything was fixed, so I recommend formatting it already or scan your PC and delete the virus. (If the anti-virus will find it of course).

While it's true that it could be a virus, it's unlikely if you've got legitimate software, it's updated and you haven't been downloading anything stupid (such as cracks or other un-trusthworthy software).

It's more likely that something in your laptop is failing to be honest, especially if you have closed all background processes running under your account besides explorer.exe (which you should do). The most likely component to be failing and causing this problem is the HDD.

If closing all of the processes under your account besides explorer.exe doesn't work, then you should look through the services list and stop all services you aren't sure about. If all of that fails, final step is to just re-install Windows on it and if that fails you have a problem.

This is all assuming that this is a problem that has only just started happening and you've played this game before without issue.

First time playing Assassins Creed, but this happens on Fable III aswell! Same thing, 3 seconds fine, 3 seconds lags and on and on.

Also this copy of windows is legitimate. Got it installed from the IT Service. And I am updating everytime it is needed.

I'll do the following, clean it from malwares and then if it persists, install a Game Booster...

PS: Who is the one that left me a Rep point saying 280 but it is 281? FAILZOR U ARR!!

I mean legitimate software, such as the games you're playing, if you pirate them you can't expect them to work properly, not to mention they may be the source of the infection (if any).

Also you might want to try de-fragmenting your HDD, those are both open world games that may do a lot of live loading from the HDD and if your game files are fragmented it may cause stuttering as the HDD tries to keep up.

Also it may be obvious, but make sure you're using the latest drivers on everything.
