[Tutorial] Creating commands with y_commands and sscanf

Introduction
  • This is my first tutorial, I will show you how you can create commands with y_commands and sscanf.
y_commands & sscanf
  • y_commands - Most flexible and fastest command processor by ******

Downloading
  • Download YSI Server Includes.
  • Download sscanf.
  • Copy/Cut the "YSI" folder into your "..pawno/include" folder.
  • Copy/Cut the "sscanf2.inc" file into your "..pawno/include" folder.
Windows
  • Copy the "sscanf.dll" file in your "plugins" folder. If you don't have one, create it.
  • Open "server.cfg" and add "sscanf" in the line "plugins".

Including

We need to load sscanf and y_commands features. At the top of our script we have to include them.

This will load the codes from "..pawno/include/YSI/y_commands.inc" and "..pawno/include/sscanf2.inc" into your script.

Important Note
  • Our commands should NOT be inside any Callback.
Callbacks
  • Callbacks are the chunks of code already in your script, that look something like this:

  • Placing our commands in these callbacks, it will occur errors, so for a clean script we can scroll all the way down to the last line, where we can start creating commands.
Adding a command
  • To add a command, you just have to make a public function using the following formulas.

  • params is the parameters string, playerid is an ID of the player who execute this command.
  • y_commands has inbuilt support for a help system.
  • NOTE: Instead of "params" we could also use "o".

Creating commands without sscanf
  • Let's start by creating a simple "/information" command without using sscanf.

  • This command will send the player a simple message, "Tutorial by SmiT !"
  • If you hit compile, you will get some warnings:

  • This tell you that you didn't use the "params" and the "help" parameter in your command.
  • There are two ways to fix that:
1.We can tell our script that "params" and "help" are unused with the "#pragma unused symbol" directive:

String
  • new string[ 128 ]; Declares the variable "string" with enough space for 127 characters.
PlayerName
  • new PlayerName[ MAX_PLAYER_NAME ]; Declares the variable "PlayerName" wich will hold the name of a player. The variable has an array "MAX_PLAYER_NAME" wich means 24, wich also is the maximum name lenght in SA:MP.

Help system

Isnull

Arrays
  • An array is a variable in which you can store multiple pieces of data at once and access them dynamically, example:
    MAX_PLAYER_NAME
Getting the player name
  • GetPlayerName( playerid, PlayerName, sizeof( PlayerName ) ); The script will get the player's name that executes the command, the "sizeof( PlayerName )" it gets the size of the array in the variable called "PlayerName" which in this case is MAX_PLAYER_NAME.
Format
  • pawn Код:

    We format our message, this will store the message in the variable "string", "sizeof( string )" will get the size of the string, in this case we declared it 128.
Placeholders
  • "%s" inserts a string . First "%s" is a placeholder for the player's name and the second "%s" is a placeholder for the player text. (/ooc [Player Text]) in the end of our formatted string, we added PlayerName, this is the variable containing the player's name and "params" for the player text.
SendClientMessageToAll
  • SendClientMessageToAll(-1, string); This will send the string containing our message to all the players on the server.

Creating commands with sscanf
  • Let's start by creating a basic "/heal" command.

Declaring
  • new PlayerID; This declares the variable "PlayerID" for the player wich we will heal.
Help system

Sscanf part

    We need to split the parameters, "u" is the specifier that stands for Player Name/ID, sscanf will check if the player enteres the incorrect parameters of the command, example: (player types only "/heal"), if so it will return the syntax message.
INVALID_PLAYER_ID

    This checks if the one on wich we try to execute our heal command (PlayerID) is connected to your server, if he isn't connected, it will return the message above. Operator "==" means "Left is equal to Right".
SetPlayerHealth
  • SetPlayerHealth(PlayerID, 100); This is the action itself, it will heal the targeted player to 100.
Sscanf formula in a command
  • Sscanf formula in a command should look something like this:

  • SkinID, We declare the variable "SkinID" for the skin id we will set to the player.

  • TargetName[ MAX_PLAYER_NAME ], We declare the variable "TargetName" for the player name on wich the command will be executed.
  • string[ 128 ]; We declare a 128 array string.
Help system

Sscanf part

    "u" stands for the PlayerName / ID, and if we look to the specifiers above we see that "i" stands for integer. Sscanf will check if the player uses the incorrect parameters of the command, (example "/setskin 55"), if so it will return the message above.
INVALID_PLAYER_ID

    This checks if the one on wich we try to execute (PlayerID) our command is connected to the server, as I said above.
SkinID

    The available skin ID's in SA:MP are from 1 to 299. So, we check ( if the SkinID is higher than 299 OR the SkinID is lower than 1 return the message ). Operator " || " means OR. if ( Left || Right ).
PlayerName
  • GetPlayerName( playerid, PlayerName, sizeof ( PlayerName ) ); It will get the player name who exectues this command as explained above (playerid)
TargetName
  • GetPlayerName( PlayerID, TargetName, sizeof ( TargetName ) ); It will get the player name on wich the command will be executed (PlayerID).
Format

    We format our message, as explained above. If you look to the "placeholders" list I gave you, you will see that "%d" inserts a integer (a whole number), since the SkinID is an integer, this will be a placeholder for the skin ID we set to the player. "%s" inserts a string, it will be a placeholder for the player name as explained above.
SendClientMessage

    Note, the message we have formated it will be send to the "PlayerID", the one on wich the command will be executed.
Format

    We format our 2nd message, and note that now the "%s" will be a placeholder for the player name on wich the command will be executed "TargetName".
SendClientMessage

    Note, the 2nd message will be send to the one who executes this command "playerid".
SetPlayerSkin
  • SetPlayerSkin(PlayerID, SkinID); This is the action itself, this function will set the PlayerID skin to the SkinID we want to.
A simple /eat command
  • Let's create a simple "/eat" command with 2 options.
  • Option 1: "/eat Cookie"
  • Option 2: "/eat Cake"

    "s" stands for string.That's what we need so we can choose between "Cookie" and "Cake".We need also to put the "20" array of the variable "option" after the specifier. Sscanf will check if the player uses the incorrect parameters of the command, (example "/eat"), if so it will return the message above.
Strcmp Cookie

    Strcmp compares two strings to see if they are the same, we compare the two strings ( option and "Cake" ), so if the "option" ( /eat [option] ) it's "Cookie", send him a message that he has been healed and heal him.

Permissions
  • Let's set some permissions, we will disable "/setskin" for players, enabling it only for RCON Administrators. (based on an imaginary login system)

  • This will configure the command, so only RCON administrators can use the "/setskin" command.
Commands
  • y_commands has a special system, it knows every command you have, so you don't have to update your "/commands" list.

I would give a reputation for any point which is giving to be fair and if most people who recieved a rep point from me will see it's mostly because of posts.
