im trying to install phpbb3 on my website but its giving me this error when i type in the mysql information

Could not connect to the database, see error message below.
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

i've been trying all day for solutions i cant find the error, i even reinstalled the database and tried a diff one but it keeps giving this error. (godaddy) S: the db name and password are correct..
