If it is a good netbook I suggest windows 7 home premium coz it runs very smooth on my net book which is Intel pentium 1.8ghz with a 3gb ram and upto 1gb graphics. It runs really great No lag at all. But if it is old I suggest windows xp.

OSx86.
Wait, that's not Windows. /facepalm
Well, I'd recommend XP for notebooks, but if your notebook can run 7 just fine, then try it out.

Windows XP for a netbook due to the fact it uses less resources.

However, Windows 7 if you have the extra GPU/CPU/RAM resources to throw around.

In my netbook Of 1998 (notebook) i use Win NT but have 32mb ram, 2vram (No aceleration), Modem Card (NOT ETHERNET!), Sound card 2 bits (Just 1% of sound), Floppy, and CD-ROOM 20X (No Burn), LCD incorporated Without the new technology to see the Display 2 or more people. And Windows 95, NT, WINDOWS 98 CERTIFICATED (RUN WITH HIGHT SPEED) and Windows Me (Low Speed).

For that I'd rather recommend ****** Chromium OS. Flow is a nice distro.

My first computer kinda ran Windows 98, even though I bought it in 2003. Windows XP wasn't really popular around here.
As soon as I install Snow Leopard on dual boot with 7, I might just add 98 to the combo. I wanna see how Windows 98 can be used today with modern software. For sure, I know Opera works just perfectly. Wait a second......
*BSOD image appears in mind*
