I recieved my laptop at christmas (Sony Vaio VGN-NW20ZFS) And a few weeks back, i recieved this:
50% Available (plugged in, not charging)
I use windows 7 64 bit.
I found a "solution" (leave plugged in, take battery out, put battery in) but it didn't work for me.
How can i fix this 'Permanently'?

My guess is that there is a problem with your battery, though it could be a bug with the operating system. Try letting the battery die completely (note that your computer will probably auto-hibernate around 5%), and then charge it.

maybe your charger is broken.

Maybe the charger has an issue.
Try plugging it in into a different outlet.
If not, call them and tell them about it. (where ever you got it from)

It's your battery or the charger. Trial and error both.

It happens to me sometimes but i just leave it in charging and after a few time it fixes itself.
Just don't plug it off.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, and it does the same thing. I read up on it, and the motherboard is the one causing the problem for me. The charging jack I guess came un-welded from the motherboard, so it only works when it is plugged in... Make sense?
