Please do not post if you have no idea what you're talking about.
You can use Cisco Guard, 1 gbit uplinks, iptables, packet analyzers and several other solutions.
However, neither of those are very affordable, hence not many hosts or servers have them.

This for DDoS, not specific SA-MP attacks (such as server full).

Did you searched for the attacking ips first? it is best to rangeban them. If it are too much to range ban, i will recommend you to call your hosting/provider asking them.

DDOS Is hard to stop, you can reduce it by using firewalls(hardware ones), and some other stuff, but must of it can't really stop it.
How ever the chance is verry small. It is probally the best to put the server down, calling your host/provider or rangeban some ips. I can't say anything about loosing files from a DDOS, i heard a DDOS with much zombies can cause a overheat, but i think your router/modem will freeze when it gets that much packets.

That's a nice piece of equipment but if the DDOS exceeds your connection's incoming bandwidth capacity you're still fucked.

this makes me hate SA MP

they have blocked middle east countries from their master servers, so if anyone makes a server from these countries, it does not appear in the internet tab.
sa mp's reason for blocking : TO KEEP SA MP safe from DDOS WTFK

even after u have banned these countries, ur still experiencing DDOS attacks.
whats the use of blocking middle eastern countries? (VERY SMART )

enjoy :P :P
