Static IP Required? - DeltaAirlines12 - 05.09.2009

Do I First Need To Set Up A Static IP Address Before I Portforward?
IS IT REQUIRED?
Cause one site I read said its needed, then one said, its not required, but good to have.
If you could please tell me, I would appreciate it, Thanks!

An internal static IP would be good, if its not static internally and it changes, then you'll need to edit the portforwarding settings constantly.

Nothing needs to be done for your external IP with regards to portforwarding.

If portforwarding, a static internal IP is almost essential, unless you want to change your portforward settings every time your internal IP changes.

A static external IP is highly reccomended, unless you want to have to give out your new IP every time your external IP address changes.

You don't need a static IP to portforward but you do need to inform your players about the new IP so you coult set up a website and post new IPs with ports ect..
But you don't have to redo portforward as it will change all the time with the IP so for an example if your IP is 555.555.555.555 and port is 7777 and togev 555.555.555.555:7777 and your IP changed to 444.444.444.444 but your port will still be 7777 what you could do is buy a domain and use the doamin but listen the port on a easy remem portl ike 2009 or soemt.
so it will be
******.com:2009
or
cokescape.com:2009

It simple to have a domain and chage the ip all the time rather than posting ports ect..

I use http://www.zoneedit.com for DNS service ect..

That is true but they can still use a domain waht will be the easy I think?
I did check it with my server and it work for doamins but what it dose it gets the IP out of the domain, rather than using the domain it self....

Sure, you can use a domain. However, when you add the server to your favourites the domain is resolved to an IP and stored as an IP. Therefore, when your IP changes the old IP will remain in the favourites and not contact the server properly. However, it does make it easier to give out any address changes.

Due to this, a static IP is still highly recommended, but not essential to the running of a server.

That is something i didnt think about but yes that is a huge problem if your using a dymaic IP.
Will that be in SA:MP 0.3? If not it will be good if it is.
