Block RCON Problem - Memoryz - 06.08.2009

My server was going good until people now, are trying to get into my damn RCON!

I keep getting

BAD RCON ATTEMPT BY: 24.37.106.138
How can I completely disable RCON, as I really don't need it atm.

Or how the hell can I ban this IP from going onto my RCON AND PLAYING ON MY SERVER?

Sorry, but im just really upset ATM, my server is lagging like shit, and hes bruteforcing my RCON...

Type this into your server console:
banip 24.37.106.138

If the IP has changed ( las digits ) range ban him:
banip 24.37.*.*

That won't really do much to deter this type of stuff. The best bet is to firewall the IP/range completely using iptables, windows firewall, whatever.

I banned his IP, but he keeps using proxies, thus using a different IP.

Crap, im not going to stay at my computer looking at the server console and typing banip ****, banip ****, over and over.

Its not him/her/heshe finding the password (as i've changed it to random crap like 541351h35hshdhtdhdthdt5454sh6588888hhtsh) (lulz)

It's just my bandwidth im worried about.

Should I just close my server down for a bit?

Uh, got idea from this to check log and I found one from Portual who wanted to get into rcon hehe. Already banned now

Btw, isn't there auto-ban system which bans you for too many wrong password attempts or does it work only for IG?

If you're not using RCON and using a really long RCON password then let him/her/it try all they want - they won't get in.
