[PHP/MYSQL] Showing players on a map - Think - 08.05.2009

well i got a question, i got a map (1536x1536 pixels) how would i be able to put the coordinates from a player in a coordinate for the map? (i use: imagecopy)

english, dont want delux maps, i want my own i want to add more than players only but the principe is the coords converting to the maps coords.
