It is an old game, however they are working on new updates day by day. They just announced (5 minutes ago) that they are giving away 5 million copies of the game for free;

It's a great game, I recommend playing it to give it a shot. It's a shame they killed the game themselves though after the fiasco the developers created within the community.

They say they are working on PayDay 2: Ultimate Edition, which will get rid of DLC's and will instead offer DLC-free game with all the new updates (new mods etcetera) getting installed immediately without having to purchase them. However, you will still have to pay for PayDay 2 Ultimate Edition. PayDay 2 VR edition is also coming out soon.
