SmartBytes Hosting servers - [FRAG]B - 12.05.2015

Hi,

I'd like to get in contact with other people who also have a server hosted by SmartBytes. When our server is down, this would be useful to determinate if the problem is related to us or to the host. It would also be useful to exchange information to each other in case one knows more than the other when a problem occurs. Basically I'd just be more comfortable being in a problem situation together with someone else than alone.

Right now our host's game control panel (along with our server) has been down for 6 days (since 6/05/2015), SmartBytes hasn't sent us any messages and they seem to be impossible to contact. I tried contacting them through ********, *******, a support ticket and 4 e-mail addresses of the company and the owner. Their game control panel is down so my guess is that all of their servers (hosted in both Florida and France) are currently offline, but I'd like to be sure.

I'd like to know if anyone knows anything more about what's going on and if we should do anything.

Yup, I use smartbytes And it's down from 8 days not 6.

Time to switch hosts for all of you. Get a proper company such as OVH.

Please tell me how it is not a proper host. Their servers have near a 100 percent uptime and the speed is absolutely good. Also your 'skid' accusation is pretty baseless.

Oh for gods sake, I purchased a hosted tab spot from them a few days ago. Heard nothing. Unfortunately, it appears the business is going under?

I've not yet disputed the paypal payment however.

This is not the first time he has gone AWOL apparently.

Actually it's not like they're scammers or some kid running up, It's sure they're having some real life issues, Wait for a week.

That's exactly why I haven't yet disputed the payment, I'll give it some time yet!

It's not really acceptable for a company that charges money for services to fail to provide those services for 6 days without any explanation or warning to customers.

Just file a dispute for any money lost and find a new host.

SmartBytes may open up soon. I think they are having serious problems or issues with these Down Times , so thats why they don't want to reason any customers and keep them waiting. I'm sure they are a good and decent host and
will not scam their customers and will add the days they were down so that it will be fair to the customers.

That's a bit of a tricky one then. SmartBytes is the only one that is allowed to sell listings for servers that they don't host. Just a convenient perk of the owner being a beta tester.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. Is any of you perhaps from the US? He does have a phone number on his site so calling him might work. I haven't tried it myself cause intercontinental calls are probably pretty costly.

I have spoken to Matt at SmartBytes (****** Voice is amazing). He apologises for the inconvenience and has not said anything on the forums due to the fact that every time he pops up he gets blasted for historical stuff.

He's basically having an issue with his bank in allowing him to pay the host for the FR1 server, and so has had to go down a different means. Give it a few hours and they'll be back. Hosted tab orders will also get processed once the servers are back up.

Well their dedicated & cloud-dedicated servers are very good, however their OpenVZ (known as 'Classic VPS') is pure oversold crap, though Cloud VPS is somewhat better as it's VMware which makes it harder (not impossible though) to oversell.
