That ring of light around the black hole was actually a new scientific discovery made by interstellar's CGI team. Black holes have never been rendered that detailled physically correct. They didnt know it would look like that before.

We don't know yet. Tho, This is the most accurate predication how black hole would look like.

That's actually pretty decent work. Just add some bright dust, stars and J.J Abrams lens flares and you're there.

I'm also kind of confused at that point, black holes are known for their ability to be completely invisible for any telescope to detect, except the lens distortion it creates. But what I've heard from this theory is that around it is a extremely bright dust, which is kind of weird because in that case, why couldn't we ever capture a picture of its disk?
