I do think that it's a good idea, because you will have more possibilites with your phone.

Sometimes it is, it really depends on what you want to do. I recently rooted my Chinese phone clone for the sake of being able to cheat in games. It can also be useful for using Sixaxis (PS3 controller adapter). Other than that there's not a whole lot that's truly useful other than pirating games.

yes, you can get rid of samsung's crap and have a pure android like experience with a rom like cyanogenmod

There are so many websites about that, especially for the galaxy phones.
In short:
Pro: Get rid of the bloated samsung android, get root access.
Con: Get rid of the warranty.
So if you think your phone wont stop working until the warranty expires, do it. Else, dont do it.

Yeah damn do, get rid off the ugly touchjizz, install a stock AOSP rom like Paranoid Android.

BTW, Android can install APKs from any source, you dont need to have root access to use pirated software. Guess youre confusing that with ios jailbreaking, Apple got a much more restrictive software management, and doesnt allow installing stuff from anywhere (which might be a good and a bad thing aswell)

I'm referring to apps with antipiracy, which requires root and titanium backup I think.

I would like to add something about Ios. You can install apps from some websites as well, with out jailbreaking. I know methods like to install applications that require cash without buying them, plus that it's with out jailbreaking. You just have to download vShare and everything is alright.
