So I tried to ****** this question but I got mixed results and I don't know what to believe, so the question is do NPCs take up player slots?

Sometime's Not. I have got some NPC's in my server but it didn't reserve server slots.

i think there is some zombies made by objects and they dont use slots

There is a difference between zombie "objects" and zombie "NPCs".
NPCs use player slots, objects don't , fuck logic..

I'm pretty sure there was a way to mask them, so it doesn't show up in the player slots.

e.g unmasked: 10/100 (10 NPCs, 0 players, but fills the slot)
masked: 0/90 (10 NPCs, 0 players, reduces the max amount of slots)

Yes they take a slot for each npc.
