Doesn't matter as long as you don't chose CentOS 5/6; they are pretty much outdated

How so? CentOS 6.5 was released end of last year and CentOS 7 was released beginning of last month. The only outdated part is the repos and it isn't very hard to find new ones yourself and update them. Exact same thing I did to my PPC CentOS distro which was completely outdated (about 2011) and I just found new repos.

They are not outdated. Okay, lets assume its outdated, but still used by majority of servers and host providers. So, CentOS is best for samp.
