[TA] TransAsia Airways Flight GE222 Crash - Taiwan - Anak - 23.07.2014

As many as 45 people are feared dead after a TransAsia Airways passenger plane crashed on one of Taiwan's Penghu islands Wednesday, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported.

At least nine other people were injured in the crash of the twin-engine turboprop plane, which happened outside Magong airport at about 7 p.m., CNA reported.



The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known. Some media reports said the plane was making a crash landing prompted by strong winds from Typhoon Matmo, which hit Taiwan early Wednesday, according to CNA.

The plane had taken off from Koasiung, Taiwan, CNA reported. The Penghu islands are off the main Taiwanese island's west coast.

TransAsia Airways flight GE222 had 54 passengers and 4 crew members on board.

The flight was originally planned to set off from Kaohsiung Siaogang Airport at 4pm, but was delayed until 5.43pm due to Typhoon Matmo.

Because of the bad weather at Penghu, the flight’s first attempt to land failed.

At 7.06pm, the captain requested another landing, but subsequently lost contact with the control tower.

The plane was later found crashed near the village of Xicun. Local residents saw flames around the plane.

The passenger list includes four children.

If you re read, this accident happened because of the bad weather and not someone shooting it down.

Actually there's been 84 incidents regarding aircraft with a total of 827 fatalities in 2014 so far


Also have a laugh at this guy who hijacks a plane because he wants to go to the Winter Olympics held in Sochi

Sorry but what are you talking about? I'm referring to the fifth commercial flight incident this year, you may be talking about something different
