I have one question here, how can they create a free hosting samp like sa-mp.gs frags.gs and etc?

The owners of the service pay for servers (and domain name) at their own expense, and code control panels to handle the servers. It requires a fair bit of time, money and effort.

Register domain, get server(s), make script that will handle everything.

most likely dedicated server with from 32gb to 64gb of ram to fit all servers.

they wouldn't bother with heavy scripts if it wasn't shared dedicated server.

but still, as long as it's not any type of virtualization, server should run smoothly, specially if hosted by OVH/KIMSUFI/SOYOUSTART.

It's just a waste of money. Those who have some money to waste on the servers and hosting, they are running the free hosts. Also, there are enough free SA-MP hosting, making another one is stupid because almost everyone is having a free server (those who needs it) from the current free hosts. I don't think there is anybody left who needs free server.

Have money, have low expectations in terms of monetary return.. Anyway hopefully no free hosts use a VPS, I can safely say we don't since shared resources are not good for running multiple game servers, also the majority of hosts use a custom coded panel since it's suited to the purpose of provisioning only samp servers. So basically, you need: time, money, patience and money.

I also wonder how the big ones are paying the dedicated servers. Having a spare VPS is common, but people renting a dedicated usually have clear plans on what to do with it, so i dont think those free hosters come from guys with a dedicated that they dont need for other stuff.

Personally I have a job where I don't have necessary things I need to pay; bills, mortgage and so on. So rather than spending that money on junk food I'd much rather help out a community that is dear to me. And yea I agree that it's a little suspicious that people seem to have 'spare' money however that's my reasoning behind the funding of FractalHub, I believe I read in the frag.gs post that ev0lution's reasons are slightly similar. Whereas there is some free 'hosts' that just sort of appeared and then disappeared shortly after due to lack of funding (cough, iHost) which just adds to the suspician.

Yeah most people have jobs we don't all live in 3rd world countries I earn part time around Ј600 a month, I use around Ј100 a month, parents pay for rest so I do have a lot of money left over which I can lend to mates and stuff. And doing dev stuff with VPS's buying a lot of them is an interest of mine.

yea I don't think that either, they must use it for something more profitable other than just for hosting free gameservers.

Okay that's a noble way to spend your extra money. I've shared my vps a few times for hosting, but I'd never pay a server just for offering free hosting. If I earned more money than I need I'd have some more "welfare" things to pay for before thinking about samp hosting
