You dont need that app in your phone, all you have to do is go to apple id website and go to find my device, if gps is enabled it should show where the phone is.

Usually, when you supply your IMEI number to the police authorities, they block the phone usage so that the robber can't use it - but it has a downside - the robber will most likely destroy it and you still don't get it. If the GPS is active, you find it, great for you!
