SA:MP Checklist and Common Errors -
xClumx - 21.08.2008
I've made this topic as a lot of posts here are about the same thing.
San Andreas:
1. If you have an illegal copy of San Andreas (torrents or whatever) do
not expect help, these *ripped* versions of San Andreas are usually altered in some way and there is no way of telling what the problem is, plus they aren't wanted around here.
2. If you are using cracks for your copy of San Andreas, again, don't expect help, the game is designed to run with a normal copy of San Andreas v1.0.
3. The Direct2Drive and Steam versions of the game
cannot be downgraded, your best bet is to
NOT buy the game from there.
4. If you have version 2.0 of the game (EU/US) you can use the
Downgrader Patch to set your game version to 1.0. The German version cannot be downgraded.
5. Delete the gta_sa.set file located in My Documents, San Andreas User Files.
SA:MP
1. Make sure you have the latest version of the game (currently version 0.2.2 R3), this can be found at
http://sa-mp.com/download.php
2. Make sure you have the correct San Andreas directory set in your SA:MP client, this can be found by opening the client, clicking on *Tools*, *Settings* and under San Andreas Installation Location make sure you are in youur correct directory. If you aren't then click the small folder icon and browse to the correct directory.
Firewalls/Antivirus
1. Make sure gta_sa.exe and samp.exe are allowed through any firewalls or antivirus software you have.

An error report such as above when you try to spawn.
This seems to be a common error with Windows Vista, to solve this do the following
before you spawn.
Press Escape
Click Options
Display Setup
Advanced
Now turn the Frame Limiter off then on, or on then off. This should now allow you to spawn.
If the above method doesn't work, try the following.
Press Escape
Click Options
Display Setup
Advanced
Now change your Resolution from 32bit to 16bit (For example, your resolution is 1024x768x32, change to 1024x768x16). This should allow you to spawn. After you have spawned you can set your resolution back.
Lost connection to the server...Gamemode Restarting/Connecting to server...Server didn't respond...retrying
If this happens on
every server you try to connect to then it's most likely a firewall problem. As stated above make sure
samp.exe and gta_sa.exe are allowed through any antivirus/firewalls you have. If you still get the same problem then try temporarily
disabling your firewall and antivirus to see if this resolves the problem. If this
does solve the problem then search on
****** to see if there is a certain method of allowing applications through your firewall/antivirus.
Connection Rejected/Bad Nickname!
Make sure you are using a valid nickname, it must be between 3 and 16 characters and can only include (letters, numbers, *_*, []).
If this happens on only certain servers you join and you are sure your name is correct then contact the server owner to see if they
are having problems with the server.
When i try to connect to a server it loads up Single Player, why?
Downgrade your game as stated above.
Sometimes after i minimize a game my mouse/touchpad doesn't work!
Simple, either press Esc in game and click Resume, or minimize your game again and re-open.
My car radio doesn't work after i minimize the game!
Get out the car and get back in!
I ran debug and can't find the savedpositions.txt file (Vista)
Make sure you run debug as Administrator (right click, run as Administrator)
When i try to install SA:MP the next button is greyed out.
If you have installed San Andreas in a different directory to C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San andreas then change it by
browsing to the proper directory. If you have the Steam version of San Andreas or the Direct2Drive version, you won't be able to
install.
